East Algarve Walking Football’s most senior player David Trueman celebrated his 80th birthday recently and to mark the occasion the EAWF family presented him with a commemorative bottle of port and a cake adorned with three football candles, one for each year he has been playing the game.

David, who was accompanied by his partner Jean, said “It was one of the best decisions of my life to take up walking football, not only from the fitness point of view but the social interaction has been fantastic. They are a great bunch of friends and I look forward to many more years of activity.”
To see David and his compatriots in action visit the astro-turf pitch adjoining the José Arcanjo Stadium, Olhão (behind McDonalds on the EN125) any Tuesday morning between 9.30 and 11.30am. Everyone welcome as long as they are over 60 years of age.
