There is less than a week to go now till the inaugral Olhao International Walking Football Tournament. Here are some more details on the event.

There are now 12 teams entered for the event, which will be a single over 50s tournament (unfortunately we have had a few drop-outs in the over 60s category at the last minute).

PLEASE NOTE: The tournament is being held at the Municipal Stadium in Olhão (not our normal venue at Ohlanense). There is a map below the fixture list for those who may not know where it is.

The fixture list and format for the two stages are:

Two groups of 6 in Stage 1 will play on Thursday November 15th, with the final round of matches taking place first thing on Friday 16th.

The top two teams in each group will then contest the Trophy Group at Stage 2 on the remainder of Friday by playing each other once, with the winner of the Trophy Group being crowned champions.

Third and Fourth place in each Stage 1 group will contest the Plate Trophy in Stage 2, and those finishing 5th and 6th in Stage 1 will context the Bowl group in Stage 2. Thus all teams have a chance of some silverware until the end of the tournament.

A Tournament dinner will be held on Friday evening, from 7.30 to midnight at €15 a head including mixed meats/cod with cream and the usual accompaniments, and also including beer/wine/soft drinks/coffee. This will be held at the Restaurante Bom D+, on the Rua Miguel Torga, Olhao. See below for more info. If you wish to attend the dinner can you please let Chris Wright know in advance.

Please help support this tournament by attending whether you are playing or not, as there will be plenty to help out with on the day.

See you all there!
