With the current global situation with Covid-19, we as EAWF and EAFC would like to give something back (#GIVESOMETHINGBACK) to our local communities in the East Algarve and help some small businesses that are very close to our hearts but who must be struggling at the moment.

For O Cantinho in Tavira, who continue to work hard with their take away delivery service and who we use on a regular basis for drinks/meals after our Tavira sessions, we have decided to help them out by giving them €500 to help with their obvious current cash flow problems in exchange for vouchers.

As a club, we will have 50 × €10 vouchers printed to sell to our players and their families that can be redeemed at a later date for their full value at O Cantinho as and when normal service resumes.

Please can you start by pledging the amount you wish to contribute and let Andy Smith () know and he will keep a register of your pledge and, when convenient, give you the vouchers in exchange for the appropriate money.

This really is a no brainer … it won’t cost the club or you anything in the long run, you are simply buying vouchers to spend in the café at a later date while helping them out at this difficult time.

A similar scheme will be arranged for the café in Olhao and details of this will follow as soon as available, and there are also plans to help out the Red Cross in both Tavira and Olhao in the near future. This post will be updated with information on this when the logistics are worked out.

Thank you all for your continued support; helping out small businesses like this is the least we can do to help our local community.

Hi lovely peops in the Algarve, please put me down for euros 10 to help O Continho survive this terrible pandemic. Here my local Club Stenhousemuir fc have formed a local volunteer group to walk dogs, deliver vital services to vulnerable people. Our walking football club have donated £250 from club funds. Best wishes to everyone missing our footie like mad. David Gould

Thank you so much David. Terrible times indeed, but so reassuring to see people pulling together to help others. Stay safe and see you soon.
